We take a collaborative, evidence-based approach to menopause care, recognising that every woman’s experience is different. Management may include lifestyle support, non-hormonal therapies, menopause hormone therapy where appropriate, and coordination with other healthcare providers when needed.

Perimenopause is the transitional stage leading up to menopause, where hormone levels begin to fluctuate and symptoms may develop. Menopause is defined as 12 months after a woman’s final menstrual period.

Symptoms may include hot flushes, night sweats, sleep disturbance, mood changes, anxiety, brain fog, fatigue, weight changes, irregular periods, vaginal dryness and reduced libido.

Yes. Hormonal fluctuations during perimenopause can contribute to anxiety, low mood, irritability, poor concentration and changes in emotional wellbeing.

Treatment is individualised and based on symptoms, medical history and personal risk factors. We discuss both hormonal and non-hormonal management options where appropriate. There are some conditions where hormonal therapy may not be appropriate, for example, in cases of breast cancer, a strong family history, multiple personal risk factors and other.

Yes. There are non hormonal IUDs (intrauterine devices) which can be used in lieu of hormonal therapies.

Blood tests may be recommended depending on your symptoms, age, medical history and stage of hormonal transition. However, treatments for menopause and perimenopause are usually commenced based on clinical symptoms, and is not always based on the level of hormones as hormone levels can fluctuate.

No referral is required for menopause or perimenopause consultations.

Yes. We provide in-person consultations on the Sunshine Coast in a calm and supportive clinic environment. We also offer telehealth appointments for patients. These appointments can only attract a Medicare rebate if you have been seen in clinic within the last 12 months of the telehelath appoinment.
