A complementary approach to hormonal health.

Hormonal symptoms can be complex. Changes in sleep, mood, energy, menstrual cycles, digestion, weight, libido and overall wellbeing may be influenced by hormones — but they can also have other medical causes.

At SunCoast Women’s Health Hub, our naturopathic hormone service provides women with an integrative approach to hormonal health, working alongside our Women’s Health GPs and allied health practitioners.

This service may suit women who are looking for natural and lifestyle-based support, those who are considering MHT/HRT but would like to explore complementary options, or women already using conventional hormone therapy who would like additional naturopathic support..

WHAT DOES HORMONE TESTING INVOLVE?

There is no single “hormone test” that provides all the answers. Hormones can be tested with a blood test, urine test, saliva test or cheek swab. Your practitioner will guide you as to the best way that would suit you.

Depending on your symptoms, age, menstrual cycle and medical history, assessment may include discussion of:

– Menstrual and reproductive history
– Perimenopause and menopause symptoms
– Thyroid health
– Stress and sleep
– Nutrient status
– Metabolic health
– Gut health
– Current medications, supplements and hormone therapy

Where appropriate, conventional pathology can be organised or discussed with your GP. Additional functional or integrative testing may also be considered when clinically appropriate.

Importantly, routine hormone testing is not always required to diagnose perimenopause or menopause, and testing should always be interpreted in the context of your symptoms and broader health.

LOOKING BEYOND SYMPTOMS

HORMONES

Following assessment, your individual plan may include:
- Herbal medicine
- Evidence-informed supplementation- Lifestyle strategies
- Sleep and stress support
- Gut health support
- Nutritional and metabolic considerations
- Healthy ageing strategies
- Review of existing supplements and potential interactions

The aim is not simply to “balance hormones”, but to understand the factors contributing to how you feel and develop a realistic, individualised plan.

NATURAL SUPPORT, HRT OR BOTH?

Hormonal healthcare does not need to be an either/or decision. Some women prefer to begin with naturopathic and lifestyle approaches. Others may benefit from MHT/HRT or other conventional treatments. Many choose to use both approaches together.

Because our naturopath works within a multidisciplinary Women’s Health Hub, patients can access naturopathic support alongside Women’s Health GP assessment and conventional hormonal treatment when appropriate.

This collaborative model also means that symptoms requiring medical investigation can be appropriately assessed rather than automatically attributed to hormones.

Integrative Hormonal Healthcare — Under One Roof

Whether you are interested in a naturopathic approach, conventional MHT/HRT, or a combination of both, our aim is to help you make informed decisions about your health.

Evidence-informed naturopathy. Women’s Health GP care. Collaborative hormonal support.
