Eliza Freney is an Advanced Accredited Practising Sports Dietitian with over 15 years of experience in elite sport, and is passionate about bringing the standard of care reserved for elite athletes to every active woman. Eliza has worked with female athletes across multiple high-performance systems, including rugby union, cricket and basketball. She is currently consultant performance dietitian to the South Sydney Rabbitohs (NRL) and New Zealand Basketball, and advises high performers internationally through her private consultancy.

Most sports nutrition was built on male physiology and applied to women by default. Eliza works the other way around. She draws on her own experience as an active female and on current evidence to build nutrition strategies designed for the female body — accounting for energy availability, hormonal and menstrual considerations, iron status and bone health, the factors that determine whether a woman trains consistently, recovers well and stays in her sport long-term.

Her research centres on the role of omega-3 fatty acids in contact sport and their emerging role in brain health and recovery. Eliza has co-authored and contributed to peer-reviewed sports science research, and is recognised for translating complex performance nutrition into practical strategies that improve performance, resilience and career longevity.
