Multidisciplinary, individualised care for Eating Disorders on the Sunshine Coast.

Eating disorders are complex conditions that can affect physical health, mental wellbeing, nutrition, relationships and everyday life.

There is rarely one single cause — and recovery rarely comes from addressing just one part of the picture. At SunCoast Women’s Health Hub, we take a collaborative, whole-person approach to eating disorder care. Our team works together to consider the medical, nutritional, psychological and social factors that may be contributing to an eating disorder or making recovery more difficult.

Care is individualised, with appropriate investigation, monitoring and referral depending on each person's needs and stage of recovery.

Medical Care with Dr Emma Smith

Dr Emma Smith is an experienced Specialist Women’s Health GP with a special interest in eating disorders and women’s health.
Dr Emma can provide medical assessment and ongoing monitoring, including consideration of the physical consequences of inadequate nutrition and eating disorders. This may include cardiovascular health, blood tests, menstrual and hormonal changes, bone health and other medical complications where appropriate.
She works collaboratively with dietitians, psychologists and other members of the treating team, recognising that good eating disorder care requires communication and continuity rather than practitioners working in isolation.

Working with Wandi Nerida

SunCoast Women’s Health Hub has an established relationship with Wandi Nerida, the specialist residential eating disorder recovery centre located on the Sunshine Coast.
This connection supports our broader commitment to collaborative eating disorder care within the Sunshine Coast community and to helping people access an appropriate level of support when their needs extend beyond community-based management.
Where more intensive or specialised treatment is required, we can work alongside and refer to appropriate eating disorder services.

Eating disorders are multifactorial. We believe your care should be too — bringing together medical, nutritional and psychological support around you rather than treating each part in isolation.
